| I've overheard someone talking about starting over. Now, it matters not who, but it just gave me an idea, if there was a way to keep our heroes but send them on an adventure in a different world, a world they could rescue without.....
Without you know what. You reading these words. Think about it for a second. Yeah, that.
This actually has an influence on the RP canon already, more or less. Like why Bookman couldn't join the heroes for the Collective Saga? Simple, Bookman is away with other stuff to do. Another world needs him. And this is that world, and the RP will describe those adventures.
It's a fantasy reality with several kingdoms of different races, spread out on the map, and Bookman (with Elie) arrives there to restore peace among the races. There'll be court dramas and politics, daily life of the aristocracy, (murder) plots and mysteries to solve, plus traveling, treasure hunting, and MAYBE an occasional battle. The countries aren't at open war - but they are conflicted, both internally and with their neighbours, and somebody has to talk sense into them, which isn't necessarily simple.
So we have a new setting. Now I'm getting to the part about 'starting over'. There's a reason why the heroes can't, say, conquer the entire planet and force the races to cease fighting (or to unite against them for independence <<). That same reason is also why the heroes joining won't enter with their full arsenal of powers. I don't say no to anything YET because I haven't decided on a target power level - but I'll share the mechanism with you, ie. the reason why not?
The world exists in its own dimension, and within the dimension, outside the world, there's a pantheon of gods and goddesses. They keep the world safe and balanced and also check on every visitor that stumbles into the dimension by accident. Anything that falls under their specialties, any power listed as an attribute for one of them, needs divine permission to exist in the fantasy world.
To use an example, Fire magic draws power from the Fire God - not the environment because fires in the environment already draw power from the Fire God, and not from the user because the Fire God lays hand on that firepower, or it can't enter the world. It's that simple. But Gods give permission to using powers, only those and within the limits that don't threaten world balance. You negotiate this IC when you meet the pantheon of gods, and OOC here while I try to figure out what should and shouldn't be allowed.
And there's no communication between this dimension and others. You can travel into it, but you can't, say, telepathically message someone inside or summon something from other distant worlds. Ryuuki, if he entered, would only ever exist in one incarnation (not that Ryuuki has any chance of joining this RP though) and messages back outside to family and friends, including cries for help, are shut.
All this for the simple reason of making a stable environment for a specific adventure and the starting over feel without abandoning our heroes as such, only certain powers they had. When you think about it, giving up on blowing up mountains means that no random villain will blow up the mountain you're crossing as you travel - this is that kind of balance.
It's vacation time and plenty folks are away but I've no rush to start this RP so you can take your time planning for it. I've LOTS of decisions to make still... and I'll drop tidbits here to update you guys when I do decide on factors like which races, what countries, what attributes there are in the pantheon etc.

| XD Well, as far as races go...... there's one race per god/goddess and there's 12 of those so far... I can give you the list of races since that's something I have now.
Taurens (Bull-Men and Cow-Girls), Mermaids (and Mermen), Angels, Demons, Ursa (Bearfolk), Elves, Nikons (Catfolk), Humans, Dragons, Arachni (Spiderfolk), Lamia (Snake-Girls), Bunnies (Bunnyfolk)
More if I get the ideas, but no dwarfs, gnomes, or goblins.

| ......... this one sure took forever with no updates. And two months worth of vacation are nearly over. But since I was without the Internet for around a week, guess what, I had the time to sit down and plan this. ...... I wish that more people actually posted in reply here, cause it looks like nobody cares.... buuut this was initially about Book and Elie's adventure, and that'll happen whether or not others tag along. 2 or 3 others would be plenty, and move at their own pace as heroes could split up. I'm giving this preparation post another try before I next post a topic where heroes negotiate with the gods before arriving in the new world proper. As for the list of 'attributes' that the gods will rule over.... hmm, it won't hurt to give you guys more details by now. In fact this info is long overdue I guess. >> - Spoiler:
Taurelius (Earth, Physical Strength, Courage, Patron of Shepherds/esses) Taurelius is a golden-skinned god presented with big, curved horns and gigantic muscles, a tail-whip, and frequently a gigantic penis and matching balls. His statuettes can be as simple as a yellow-painted clay bull, or as elaborate as statues of pure gold. As the patron of shepherds, his traditional weapon is a simple wooden staff, but let not that fool you - he is slow to anger, but fearsome in his rage, and his raw strength is unmatched anywhere in Axiva, albeit combined with remarkable gentleness so he doesn't swing it around for no reason.
Mermaya (Water, Wisdom, Caution, Patroness of Healers) Mermaya is the first mermaid, with light blue skin and silver scales all on her tail from the waist down, plus dark blue hair and nipples. Her statues always show her holding a conch shell, but never blowing it - it's an alarm with which her race carries warnings. Very skilled with magic, which she skillfully applies to healing, yet can equally turn for curses that defeat entire armies without killing, usually by poisoning rivers, wells and/or rainwater to cause them diseases, and even insanity. (Mermaya also rules over summoning spells, since the Conch noise is a summon for her mermaids.)
Angelica (Wind, Talent, Generosity, Patroness of Dancers) Angelica is a white-skinned goddess with long, golden hair, with golden tattoos painted all over her body instead of either jewelery or clothing, plus four snow-white wings, one pair growing from her shoulder blades and one from just above her waist. She is presented dancing, with two gold (war)fans held in hand. She makes friends easily, also because of her legendary generosity, her magical riches tempt the coldest of hearts - though she has a cruel side too...
Daemos (Fire, Stamina, Tenacity/Ferocity, Patron of Soldiers) Daemos has pitch-black skin and blood-red hair, a fringe covering his left eye in particular, plus a spiral black tail ending in an arrowhead. Like the race he spawned, his build is unassuming, but what he lacks in strength and speed, he makes up for with his sheer stamina and unbreakable will. His weapon of choice are triple swords - two held in hand, one with the tail. As you might guess, his style is rapid multihits.
Ursuvius (Ice, Endurance, Hospitality, Patron of Brewers) Ursuvius is a white-furred god with plenty muscle, looking like the polar bear. He is very friendly and never complains, even though he and his race settled in the Northern Wastes. He fights bare-handed, a grappler, but loves beer and mead so much he rather reaches for the mug than a weapon.
Elvira (Nature/Wood, Insight/Sixth Sense, Forgiveness, Patroness of Gardeners) Elvira has white skin, leaf-green eyes, straw-yellow hair and pointy elven ears; she wears a dress made up of flowers that drags after her as she lightly steps. Her weapon is the bow, but she is no major fighter.
Nikita (Lightning, Agility, Enthusiasm, Patroness of Thieves) Nikita has orange skin with black stripes, looking positively like a tigress, plus a soft tail and bronze eyes. She wears no armor, just her fur, and Claws are her natural weapons. She's a jolly and straightforward goddess that can and likes to fight, but also absolutely adores chasing and racing, and guessing games.
Humrodin (Metal, Charisma/Character/Willpower, Perseverance/Determination, Patron of Merchants) Humrodin has white skin, grey eyes, black hair, a short beard - is presented bare-chested but in working (leather) pants, always busy, hammering away at something. Beyond his steel grey eyes lies an indomitable spirit, proving unbreakable both in business or politics as well as in actual combat.
Dragunov (Time&Space, Foresight/Teleportation, Restraint/Self-Control, Patron of Travelers) Dragunov has a dragon head and wings, but a human body otherwise, and purple scales but pale white skin overall. He is a detached, cool, and disinterested god, spending a lot of time merely asleep. His weapon is a spiked mace which his tail holds and smacks even while the rest of him sleeps.
Arabella (Shadows, Illusions/Phantasms, Imagination, Patroness of Storytellers) Has black skin, black lips, prominent fangs, raven-black hair, wears a white dress woven from the finest spidersilk, concealing her large and otherwise naked breasts along with how from the waist down she has a spider body, with six legs. Her weapon of choice is a spear, with which she also writes her stories - she's an excellent storyteller, weaving fact and fiction together so they flow naturally.
Lemaya (Poison, Shapeshifting/Adaptability, Cunning, Patroness of Actors) Has white skin exposed only on her face, silver scales that look like armor, Medusa-snake darker silver hair, fangs, small breasts, long smooth hands with thin fingers and instead of legs a long snake tail. With the tail being so long, she's the tallest among the gods despite being almost the youngest. Her weapon is a whip.
Bobito (Light, Good Luck, Sense of Humor, Patron of COOKS) Has white skin, with gentle soft fur, long bunny ears and a little fluffy tail, laughing green eyes. He wears a jester's outfit, the colors white and green. His weapon is a ladle, used much like a mace, but he prefers cooking contests over fighting, and admires anyone who can make and/or recognize truly great food.

| If you are planning to attempt politics then, although I might regret this, you should try playing Echo Bazzar. It's a browser game linked to Facebook, but it might give you an idea about non-combat gaming. | |
